UITVOERENDE RAAD 2011 SPANBOU NAWEEK

The wheels of the bus go round and round… round and round up the curving mountains. So het die twee HPR busse op Vrydag, 15 Oktober die styl bergpasse van die Laeveld aan gedurf oppad na die UR Kamp 2010.

By die Phumula Holiday Resort aangekom het 32 opgewonde leerders onder die leiding van oom Andries dadelik met spanbou aktiwiteite begin. Die leierskursus is gebaseer op die vier hoofeienskappe van ’n goeie leier, nl. vertroue, verantwoordelikheid, misie en kommunikasie.

We got wet, got dirty, soaked in muddy water and some bruises here and there, but most importantly we created a whole lot of unforgettable memories. We  went as individuals, each with a our own objective, but  returned as one strong, optimistic unit, ready to conquer any challenge put before us and take High School Piet Retief to new heights. Yes...the scars we have attained on our legs and arms may fade, but the new relationships we have built will last forever and get stronger day by day. The obstacle courses were difficult and with no doubt took a lot of brain power, but through them we’ve learned to work together and put aside our differences, as in the end our end goal is the same with the tremendous support and guidance from our “mom” and  “Dad”  a.k.a Mr. Du Toit and Mrs. Van Heerden, we have  achieved the purpose of our weekend away. We went, conquered, climbed through a web of trust, got to know each others fears, became more understanding towards our fellow team-mates and planned our overall vision for the executive council of 2011.
We have created a good foundation to lean back on, and also found a common ground which best fits our diversity of personalities. We danced, partied, socialised, had a “lekker” braai and ended of around the fire, roasting marshmallows and being told some quiet interesting stories by the Oom. We are now back as better people, and most importantly as better leaders who are determined to be good ambassadors and loyally serve our school, giving 110 percent in everything we do. We shall strive in being good examples towards our fellow pieties. All we can say is HERE WE COME, 2011 is most definitely going to be an unforgettable year .
